Why does Blooming talk more about the “welcoming period” and less about the “adaptation period”?

SOBRE A FUNDADORA

The first few weeks at school can be challenging, both for young children and their families. What feelings accompany this beginning of the school year? What emotions are coming to the surface? And what is the role of the school during this time?
When we think of the term “adaptation,” we indicate that those who come to us, regardless of their needs and particularities, must adapt to our routine and planning, aiming to make them part of a group or institution.
However, talking about ‘adapting’ overlooks the most important aspect of this process: the act of welcoming. Empathy, affection, and listening must be present at every stage of the children’s journey within the school, and for there to truly be a welcoming environment, it is necessary to “listen” to the other, embracing their anxieties, insecurities, and expectations.
Thus, at Blooming, we focus on a welcoming process, understanding the child in their entirety — as someone with a history and context. The idea is for the child to arrive gently and have their own pace respected. From there, with the bonds created, the journey becomes easier, more enjoyable, and filled with greater trust. Let’s go together!
